Wancher Shizuku Glass Nib Pen

Has anybody any experience of these pens?

I have been looking at the website for a while. I know that the idea has been tried in the past, dip pens and a few fountain pens. The main advantage was that a glass nib is very firm and will make impressions through multiple carbon copies.

What's the writing experience like otherwise?

I've had a few vintage ones. They're described as glass-nibbed but I think most are really plastic. Quite a few were made in Germany pre-war and Bunham in Britain had a couple of glass-nib pens. The ones I have had wrote quite like a pencil.

I have a vintage probably German one (it is definitely glass). It has a couple of nib orientations it will write at and not the others, and if you scribble a lot you'll probably need to rotate it to allow the ink to flow down the capillaries again - it seems to keep up ok with normal writing. It is very fine with a lot of feedback (ever tried a Platinum UEF?)

They're novel, but I wouldn't pay that amount for one, no matter how well the nib had been smoothed. The tip is decidedly more fragile than a metal nib and if it snaps off the nib is pretty much dead.

That was my thought. Worth buying for the novelty value, but not for that much.
