Hi all

I need to find a supplier of the seal that goes between the feed and threaded connector on a Sheaffer Imperial 4

Circled in Red on the attached picture

Anyone know of a supplier, non of my usual suppliers list this part, or is it just a standard o-ring, the one on mine is too mangled to tell what its supposed to be.

Thanks for any help with this

Paul

I have no idea if prices and postage are practical, but it looks like the part generally goes under the name "section o-ring", and this (http://www.pendemonium.com/nibsandparts.htm)guy has one that fits Imperials in general. I'm new at this and you know way more than me, but it looks like I need to order new sacks from the US to repair a couple of pens and I came across this.

Thanks for the link

Unfortunately I think the ones listed are all for the touchdown and snorkel pumps. Not for the section.

Not much help in it then, it needs further search. My guess is the seller knows the part, might be worth an email if nothing else turns up :- ) I am searching for which of the Sheaffers that come with the flexy type nibs.

Is your pen a bit like this one, or the earlier version?

Have a look at the PenDragons site:

Drop them an email and ask which one you need if in doubt.

I looked for one on there and they don't list it, even in their kits. In fact I couldn't find any spares for an Imperial. I have a feeling that they are one of his "usual suppliers" who don't list it. If they don't list it then getting one within the UK is going to be difficult. :(

That looks like an Imperial 3 but what I am looking for is whats shown on that picture as the point washer.

I wonder if an o-ring of correct dimensions would do the job?

I don't see why it wouldn't.
I must admit I've considered buying a pack of mixed O-rings in the hope of getting one that fits on the section of my Sheaffer Legacy V1. I've established that no-one in the pen world sells them, and most say they don't see the point in doing so, which means there is no other way to get one.

I will try to get some and will post back with my results.

The biggest issue is that the old ones are Imperial and replacements will be metric so will not be exactly the same size

Out of desperation I did try a small Vac filler piston washer which is the correct outside dimensions and so far it does seem to be working, time will tell if there will be any long term issues with such a small centre hole.

Will update when I find some o-rings.

That's encouraging. Maybe the outside dimensions are the priority then.

I have been in contact with PenDragons and they say they can't find a supplier of anything suitable, I have ordered a selection of o-rings and will post back if anything fits.

I wonder if Laurence Oldfield would fancy adding a point gasket cutter to his seal cutter list, should be quite straight forward as he already does three cutters for the Vac Gaskets.
