John Twiss is a UK based artisan who custom makes handmade pens. This wonderful celluloid creation is his “Green Lizard”, which is made utterly charming by his addition of a sterling silver lizard roll stopper. Below is what John wrote on his website about this pen, which is out of stock and no longer available:
This material is becoming increasingly rare It was made around the 1930's/40's in LeMan, France. It was originally made for the likes of Parker, Waterman, Conway Stewart etc. This vintage Cellulose Acetate is made in strips approximately 1 inch wide and spiral wrapped around a mandrel.
The pen measures approximately 5 3/8 inches long capped and 5 inches long uncapped. It is cartridge converter filled and is equipped with a SS #6 Jowo 1.5mm nib that writes a bit on the dry side of average (says a guy who prefers fire hoses). A writing sample is included in the pictures below.
The pen has been extremely lightly used and is complete with its original box and kimono as shown in the pictures.
