Back before their untimely demise a few years ago, Delta was known for their elegant styling, use of gorgeous Italian materials, and smooth writing gold nibs. This limited edition Reppubliche Marinare from the 1990's is no exception.
The pen honors what were in the 9th to 15th century the four Italian Maritime Republics: Amalfi, Pisa, Genoa, and Venice. It is #423/1099 and features a rhodium plated 18K gold nib and sterling silver trim band with enamel coats of arms of the four cities. The cartridge converter filled pen measures approximately 5 5/8 inches long capped and 5 1/8 inches long uncapped. The pen posts securely via a threaded connection. It is complete with original box, eyedropper, and bottle of ink. The rubber bulb on the eyedropper has hardened from age and should be replaced though the pen is completely functional without the eyedropper.
I am not the original owner, but it appears the pen was never inked until I dipped it for the writing sample you see below. It has of course been thoroughly cleaned since the dip sample.
