The Montblanc Great Characters James Dean Limited Edition 1931 celebrates the big screen legend’s passion for fast cars. His enthusiasm for motorcars was part of this fascination with speed. The Ag .925 sterling silver barrel is engraved with a pattern reminiscent of the oil-cooler grille on the Porsche 550 Spyder, Dean’s car that he famously named ‘Little (bleep).’ Dean’s passion for motor racing served as inspiration for the fine engraving of a race flag on the handcrafted rhodium coated Au 750 gold nib (Medium).
The contrasting cap is made of precious grenadilla wood, with the clip shaped like a gun inspired by the weapon carried by Dean’s character in ‘Giant.’ “Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today,” is engraved around the barrel capturing one of Dean’s most famous quotes.
At the top of the clip the Montblanc emblem can be found in resin. Next to the emblem the dates of his birth and death are finely engraved. The cap top is engraved in a pattern of a dollar bill. This is referring to the role money played in another legendary films scene from East of Eden.
This edition is limited to 1931 pieces in reference to the year of his birth.
Pen comes still sealed in the original shrinkwrap complete with all original boxes, papers and packaging.
