Hello, folks. Here is my second go at a vintage restoration. Pretty amateur, I'll admit.

My wife found this pen at a thrift store where she volunteers. No idea how old it is, nor what make, nor even what material it is made of.

When I received it, it was crusted with a few blobs of white crud (paint?) on the outside, and I could not open it at all (except for the blind cap, which revealed a knurled knob - see below). After cleaning the outside, and soaking the pen for a short time, the nib section screwed out to reveal a piston in the barrel, which barely moved turning the knob. After cleaning out the inside of the barrel, I discovered that there was an ink window (it was completely blackened with dry ink initially). Eventually I got the piston out, cleaned it up, and replaced it, silicone greasing the inside of the barrel.

I cleaned the nib and feed, and polished the nib.

The nib bears the following engraving: 'Warrantet' (not 'Warranted'), 14 Carat, and '1ste Qual' or possibly '1ste Oual', but that makes less sense.
There is a tiny stamp on the barrel, 'EF', or possibly 'EP'

Anyhow, it has a pretty cool flexy nib, and though I still have some work to do on it (better piston seal), it works OK.
I am really just curious to know if anyone has seen such a pen before, or has any idea about its origins.
Cheers,
Ken
