Well I got a beater 100N, flea market style. $20 for the pen and the nib is there. But wow this thing is pretty rough.

The nib and feed are loose from the collar which seem to still be in the section. (Were these friction fit rather than screw fit? How the heck do I get it out and all reassembled?)

The filler knob seem to have come loose from the filling/piston system itself. I can screw the filler out of the back of the pen but after that I've got no idea where to start.

So my chief questions:
1. Should I attempt this repair? The binde is in lovely shape, though the ink window and section are very cloudy, maybe just from ancient ink, I can't tell.
2. If Yes to 1 how do I get the nib/feed reassembled properly?
3. How to reattach the knob to the filling system properly?

Will post pics of the grissly patient when I get home. The nib seems SUPER flexi testing it on my finger nail so I'm excited about what this pen COULD be.

Thanks! I've found that site. Aaaaand, dumb me put the piston mechanism back into the pen and now it won't unscrew again. Oy. I should know better.

The other one to look at is the forum http://www.penexchange.de/forum_en/ and if your German is any good perhaps more on the German part: http://www.penexchange.de/forum_neu/

Can't read German, but Google may translate it acceptably.

Looks like I HAD it all done as I should, but put the piston mechanism back in for safe keeping and now it won't come out. Solid, not a hint of moving again ever. That is so par for my week.

Can you get the Binde off?
If so try soaking it overnight.

OT: Is there a time problem on the board? Post time says 07:14 which is 7 hours ahead of BST. The went to 12:14 AM. Strange

Been doing that on occasion for a while. A refresh sets the time correctly.

Hmm, which direction should hte binde come off? Forward over section? Cause with the piston in it can't go backwards. I'm pretty sure piston mechanism has to be out to remove the binde.

You should be able to get to this thread on the piston bits.

Thanks Wych. The issue now is the dang piston mechanism will NOT move, not so much as a tiny bit. I figured it was me being a wimp, husband tried (turning clockwise as it is counter treaded) and... nothing, but a slight "crack" sound from the plastic wanting to crack instead of turn (he could feel it give under his fingers.)

So I'm stumped. What does one do when the piston mechanism (threaded, not a friction fit) doesn't want to move? I'm afraid we'll shatter the thing and have to find a replacement. But then again, the piston knob came broken off and I don't really see a way to reattach it so maybe a new entire mechanism is needed anyway?

Hmm, sounds like I need to try heat. Will have time to fiddle tomorrow hopefully. I'll pull out my heat gun and try very gently heating the barrel/piston and see if she'll come loose.

Frankly, the odds of disaster are ridiculously high if you choose to proceed. They'd be high at this point even for those who have years of experience working on Pelikans. I'd strongly recommend you send the pen to a vintage Pelikan specialist.
