Dear Sponsors, Vendors, Attendees and Friends of the Pen Community;

We have postponed writing this message for a time to allow for advances in the fight against COVID-19 to have an impact on the many controlling factors that govern the operation of a pen show (convention) to take place. To name them all would be a very long list but key among them are the guidance from the many local jurisdictions that govern such events across the United States. The organizers of the upcoming pen shows have discussed the options of changed schedules, modified or limited events, etc. in light of what we see before us today in order to permit those with travel plans from all over the world to have time to adjust.

In general, the current rules and conditions for meetings that would include the San Francisco International Pen Show, The Chicago Pen Show, and the Dallas Pen Show are such that the normal format of our pen shows cannot be expected to take place. Especially with the more intimate interactions needed to conduct the process of showing, holding and testing pens and inks at a pen show, social distancing, face mask requirements, and sanitizing of everyone and everything to be handled and to enforce compliance with same are key elements in our decision.

Collectively we have explored the idea of postponing or rescheduling shows, but at the present time, no one can safely predict when there will be a return to normal business and the lead times necessary to put on a great show pose an uncertainty that is not manageable.

In short, the organizers of the San Francisco, Chicago, and Dallas Pen Shows are collectively cancelling the upcoming shows for 2020 and we look forward to seeing everyone safe, happy, and healthy in 2021. We will be individually updating our websites and sending a message to our Sponsors, Vendors and Pass holders about how this affects them.

We thank you all for your support, words of encouragement, and help during this difficult time and look forward to seeing you next year.

Do somthing online. Even if it is a greatly pared down show it would be better than nothing. :)

I totally agree with this. If no suitable vaccine is found soon pen shows will probably have to be pushed back to 2022.

Wise move and a well-written and clear announcement. Thanks to the showrunners for those 3 shows for being such great teams. Looking forward to seeing you all in 2021.
