HisNibs.com update -- Regatta magnetic and a new General
October 20th, 2011

Greetings,

We're re-introducing the Monteverde Regatta line -- this time with new
finishes and a magnetic closure cap! This Monteverde model will also be
available with the new 1.1mm stub nib -- as are all the Conklin models
except the smaller-nibbed Symetrik.

The Jinhao Silver General is now joined by the Gold version.

addressing for business pages, so we can now be reached directly at

place for news about pens, ink and handwriting.

The original iteration of the Regatta design had a screw-on cap -- which
also screwed on the rear to post. The new version employs magnetic
technology to bring you the ease of a slip cap, with the security of a screw
cap. To my mind, the best of both worlds.

I've also found myself becoming enamored of the ease-of-use of the magnetic
cap technology. It makes for jotting a quick note a very easy endeavor
compared to a screw-type cap, and also enables me to quickly pick-up any
paperclips that have fallen to the floor. The instantly secure posting of
the cap is also a boon. I hope that more pens will make use of this
innovative idea. The Regatta webpage, linked below, has a video of the pen
in action.

Like other Monteverde models, The nibs are available in B, M, F or the new
1.1mm stub sizes.

Like its sister company Monteverde, all of the Conklin models -- with the
exception of the Symetrik -- now offer a 1.1mm stub nib

Jinhao Gold General added

"The Silver General arrived in the afternoon mail. It is indeed a fine
looking pen, and I like the heft of a brass body...I am so pleased with the
Silver General pen that I had to write to you again :-). Filled with
Pelikan Brilliant Black it writes more smoothly than my two Pelikan pens
(205 and Level 5) with similar nibs. It just glides across the paper."

Now, the popular Jinhao Silver General is joined by its co-commander, the
Gold General.

Although the pen gives the appearance of having a metal overlay, in fact the
design is incised through the outer lacquer coating, down into the base
metal. It provides for a nice texture in the hand, as well as a certain
three-dimensional appearance.

The pen measures 5-1/2" capped, 5-7/8" posted and 4-5/8" with cap held
aside. It's metal construction produces a pleasant heft in the hand, without
being uncomfortably heavy.

"The postcard arrived in Ed Denzler's mailbox in Pearland last month, a
mystery from his past nestled among the routine bills and coupons.

Addressed in neat block letters to Denzler, the handwritten note reads, in
English: "It takes a strong man to save himself, a great man to save
another. Thank you for 1944. From China."
