If you like wabi-sabi, you'll love this pen! Bargain priced because of a cosmetic issue.
Nakaya Piccolo Negoro Araishu features a highly unusual finish. The Negoro "weathering" process is one in which the artist intentionally carves the surface to expose the underlying ebonite to celebrate the concept of aging. It is a particularly painstaking and time-consuming process, and production of these pens usually requires six months or more.
The Piccolo measures approximately 132 mm long capped and 118 mm long uncapped. Like all Nakayas, it is cartridge converter filled with a 14K gold nib. The pen is shown here with a Medium nib, though if you like the pen but not the nib I can probably switch it to a different size for you.
This piece does have a cosmetic issue which I have shown in the last picture before the writing sample. There are two small cracks emanating from the root of one of the carved areas on the cap. I have owned this pen for quite some time and the cracks have not spread. Given that the cap is not usually subjected to any real forces as long as you don't drop it and step on it, the cracks are not likely to spread. It has been suggested that these can be stabilized with a drop or two of "Captain Tolley's", but I never saw the need and never had a problem with the pen.
