I created this for my own personal use, but figured that it might be a useful reference for others.

The scans are slightly brighter one my screen than in real life. The writing on the left was done with a regular FP nib placed in a dip pen holder, and the waves on the right were done with a 3.5mm diameter flat dip pen nib.

Paper used was a Rhodia #19 Seyes pad.

Great, quick comparison of inks.

Well done and a great example to follow. Amazing how many inks there are. I could do a similar sample sheet with similar color ranges and use almost an entirely different cohort of inks.

My ink collection is largely Diamine, since I was able to get those inks in smaller 30ml bottles at a reasonable price, as well as Noodlers (my mum has regular business trips to the US). I did not include Baystate Concord Grape in this particular batch, since it bleeds and feathers on everything, and is also a major pain in the ass to get off everything it touches.

The most troublesome inks in the batch that I have included above are:

PR Invincible Black, which I have not been able to get working in any pen.
Diamine Jet Black, which is too dry for my tastes.
PenBBS #21 Black (This is an ink available only in China. PenBBS is like the equivalent of FPN in China), which tends to feather and bleedthrough paper. I'm sure dilution could fix this problem, though.

I did notice that despite using the same combinations for testing, some inks produced thicker lines, and flowed much better. I'm not sure if that's quite visible in the scans, but it was interesting to note.

You have a most impressive collection. Thanks for taking the trouble to share.

I'll add my thank you, too. A great pen pal recently included swabs in a letter and I ended up buying three of the colors. I am still not right about shopping for ink and this helps me a lot, to see what others have and what they really look like. Plus, I know it took some time you no doubt enjoyed but still . . . I appreciate that.

Awesome comparison! I'd be lying if I said I was not jealous of your ink collection - thanks so much for posting pics!

Last month I created two logs: a log of all my inks--bottled and samples, and a log of all my pens--including which nib and ink apply. I'm so glad I took the time to do so, even though it was tedious at the time, because both logs have repaid me in time saved and usefulness.

Exciting! I'm looking forward to trying my Ottoman Rose sample now! :)
