Esterbrook is not a brand I have ever owned or used. I do like to look of the new Estie. But has anyone been able to compare the standard and the slim pens? Online info here isn't reliable/rather generic. I know about the converter but I have no vintage nibs and I rarely see them on ebay here. I'm a bit put off with the silver trim on the slim as they don't do gold. But I'd rather silver slim than gold and to chunky! Also replacement nibs?? I like the sound of the 1.1 stub in the standard pen but can not find it to buy for the slim pen. They seen to come in the section part is that right? I'm rather an old CW person and the nibs are just nibs. Can someone enlighten me there please? Sorry these maybe silly questions but I have all variants in my shopping bag and the shop has not got bac to me with the answers yet!!!

I've had a couple of the modern Esterbrooks. Both the larger Estie, and the Camden. There is an adapter section that allows you to use the vintage nibs in the larger Estie. None available for the Camden, and one is in the works for the smaller pen. Well made, the spring loaded inner cap makes for a good seal. The nibs are, I was told, nibs made by Jowo for Schmidt, so are a basic modern steel nib. (meh) I found that the vintage nib in the large pen with gold trim just looked silly. I will think about the smaller pen when they come out with the adapter for the vintage nib - and if I buy buy one it will be with the chrome trim.

I read this review. I was almost hooked until I found that the replacement nibs in the uk don't fit this model.I wanted a stub nib. I have found a Green and gold in the uS and will have to suffer the import tax to the UK, Previous experience tells me they seem to charge "Whatever" Ha! May buy the Slim later. LOL.

It seems you're paying for an eye candy as the nib seems meh. At least if you get the standard then you can screw a vintage nib on it.... :)

Well, problem solved! I found an Evergreen standard with gold trim and a Lilac slim with a Journal nib (which you can't get in the UK) I bought them both! LoL. They take about 6 weeks to arrive. Let say I'm a bit excited.

Hi Karen,

I'm coming in very late, but I think you'll enjoy them both. I dont have the slim model, because the standard is perfect for me; which is why I do not think I'll ever bother with an OS, either.

You'll enjoy the Gena nib in your Lilac Slim; I have one in my cobalt Estie. I like the Estie so much, I own 7 of them. I'm tempted to say they're my Grail Pen. 👍

Enjoy, Sean 😺
