I love my custom Edison Hakumin Urushi Mina. In fact I should post a review, as I had planned. Working with Brian is always great, and Ernest did a wonderful job on this. It does take a very long time, but if you can be patient you will be amply rewarded. Feel free to pm if you have any questions.

Beautiful choice, tarheel1! That style is very unique, and no pen is like another.

Urushi outcome can be unpredictable as that Pearl Project you linked to shows. Ernest has learned so much since then! His talent continues to amaze me.

Unless things have changed for a custom urushi Edison, you're working very little with Brian and very much with Ernest. Ernest is an extraordinary artist!

Just FYI: I did a blog post detailing the process for my Custom Hakumin Mina. (http://peaceablewriter.wordpress.com/2012/10/23/tale17/)

Cheers,
Julie

Edited to add: Another example of how different urushi can be check out quinden's heki-tamenuri Hakumin Edison Pearl in the classifieds. (http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread.php/3450-For-Sale-Hakumin-Urushi-Pearl-Bulb-filler) Not at all like what we see on Nakaya heki-tamenuri. Fascinating (at least to me)!!!
