View Full Version : FS Cleaned and Ready Esterbrook Dipless Desk Pen and 444 Base

Another Antique store find. I will never, ever, ever, ever buy one of these to restore and sell. It took 3 days to clean all the ink out of this base. The small ebonite rod holder on the bottom of the lid is permanently stained blue-purple (blurple?). I fully dis-assembled each part and removed the ebonite rods and cleaned those separately from the holder to make sure all the ink was out of the ink accumulator. I cleaned the metal washer, the accumulator, the evil, tiny rods, and re-assembled the unit. I cleaned the lid, I removed the rubber gasket on the lid and cleaned both it and the lid. I smoothed the 2668 medium nib on the pen. It is a pretty clean body and clear taper. It comes with the red DO NOT FILL PAST THIS POINT thingy in the base. The bottom of the base is a nice dark maroon. The lid does have some marks on it that did not photograph well. The photos look better than the actual condition. This set is ready to fill with ink and enjoy.

Well, it looks great! I swore off desk sets for a while...hope this finds a good home quickly! :)

It sold on feebay 4 days ago but the buyer hasn't paid me yet. If he backs out I will let interested parties know.
