Afternoon All,

I have just received this as a birthday gift, can anyone assist in suggesting suitable black cartridges:

Black & Gold MONTBLANC triple star SL fountain pen Fine F nib

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Gold-MONTBLANC-triple-star-SL-fountain-pen-Fine-F-nib-/184531280713?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

Many thanks in advance!

They are nice. Most any black International Standard cartridge that you like will work.

Might you also consider Montblanc black ink cartridges? :)

Thanks Jar and Chrissy for the replies.

I was unsure if modern MB cartridges will fit a 1980s pen, but I will find out later today when some arrive in the post!

The Seller advised MB or Pelikan cartridges.

Diamine cartridges will work, too. They’re a bit cheaper.

My daughter uses Pelikan cartridges in hers - they fit and are inexpensive.

Those MB pens were basically copies of the Aurora Hastil and in fact Aurora made the first of the four iterations of that style MB for Montblanc to rebrand. The Hastil though used the Parker standard cartridge format.

The first of the series was called the VIP and it was the model made by Aurora. Next came the SlimLine then the Noblesse and finally the Noblesse Oblige. The SL and Noblesse lines overlapped IIRC and the big difference was that the SL had steel or gold plated nibs while the Noblesse featured the solid gold nibs.

If your pen accepts two international standard short cartridges, then Waterman long cartridges (https://www.penchalet.com/ink_refills/fountain_pen_ink/waterman_international_long_fountain_pen_ink_cartr idge.html) should work as well. Since they are longer, you don't have to change cartridges as often.

You can check sizes and compatibility here. (https://luxipens.com/fountain-pen-cartridge-compatibility-chart/)
