For stateside corresponders, the USPS's proposal is to bump the price of postage for the second time this year to be effective August 29. For the first ounce: domestic letters - 58¢, domestic postcards - 40¢, international cards and letters - both $1.30.

Wow. I know the USPS is going through a tough time with Mr DeJoy at the helm, and two increases in the same year is unusual.

But US Postage still seems quite affordable compared to Canada. Prices converted to USD in parentheses.

Domestic letters: $1.07 ($0.85)
Letters to US: $1.30 ($1.03)
International letters: $2.71 ($2.15)

Yeah, I don't complain. Not about US gas prices either.

No politician, government official, or media talking head wants to even mention 'the I word, but the truth is the pandemic is causing inflation.

There is always inflation. Do you mean worse than, say, a 10 or 20-year average?

Make that the second of three postage rate increases in 2021! It was announced a month ago that starting October 3rd, the USPS is temporarily raising the price of its domestic shipping services for the 2021 holiday season. This temporary rate increase will remain in place from October 3rd until December 26th, 2021.
