I just received a Heritage 1912 and I absolutely love it, but I noticed something about the cap design I wanted to ask any fellow owners about.

Does the bottom of your cap (with clip facing right) have a small indentation? At first I thought it was a dent/damage, but the location and geometric nature seem more purposeful than haphazard.

Do yours have the same? Any idea what the purpose is?

Looks like a molding defect when the cap was made. Did not see anything like that on the 1912 I just got in new.

That would be my guess as well, except I spell it 'moulding'.

Therefore, value it like an upside-down Jenny airplane postage stamp.

i like your perspective! it looks like it’s almost by design, but one more thing that makes this one special to me. i’ll call it the heritage 1912 dimple edition.

It looks like a moulding defect to me. I'm surprised that got through quality control checking. Wait..... maybe not so surprised. :(

I think I would try to swap it out for a new one, but it's likely MB will just want to exchange the cap.
