Just a reminder for everyone who wants to take part in Inktober 2021 here is the page showing the "official" rules and prompts (https://inktober.com/rules)
No sketching experience is necessary and anyone can sketch, draw, or write something or just do whatever they want to do on any day during the month. :)

I'm planning to do something different this year since I have a Christmas present to create - I'll see if posting daily progress works. Some cards for a Tarot deck, but they might take more than a day's work each. So I'll be trying to shove some symbology in from an artist's perspective, rather than someone who actually uses them, but I've found that quite fun with the couple I've made before.

I'm going to try to join in - I'm not very good at anything organised, but it's a very bleugh time of year and it might make me focus on something other than feeling a bit crap!
I have no idea what this ink is - it's a multichromatic Chinese one that I added to an order of PenBBS stuff, but it's interesting to play with and nicely autumnal.

A sketch of a Korean ornament, a sample of artform called the "Maedeup".
In a nutshell, an intricate knotworks around a jade pendant depicting a Koi swimming in a stream.

To fill this accurately and smoothly I used my new Pentel Brush pen that uses cartridges of black permanent pigment ink. At first it takes a bit of getting used to, as it's very flexible, but I eventually got the hang of it.

Time for a primary color swap.
After 4 pieces with the same primary color it´s time to change it (and to be honest I´ve run out of Van Diemans Blackened Seas).
New primary color is Montblanc William Shakespeare Velvet Red.
I plan to keep the pace for this inktober and change the primary color after 4 days.

I knew that the raven is one of the recurring character in their folklores, and now I know that it is a lot harder to get it right.
This just increased my respect for the artists who has mastered this style.

Another day of many learnings!
I did this one first, and discovered that having got so used to single colour sketches, I no longer like any of my black inks or nibs for outlining. I either need to just go back to a dip pen and indian ink or find a new combination. Possibly something with a finer nib that can take a pigment ink. 63805
Platinum Prefounte with PR Invincible Black / Kyo no oto Urahairo / MB Swan Illusion for washes.
However, after seeing Will's fabulous fan on the same theme, I thought I should do something involving a bit more effort, so did this one. I used a slightly textured paper, which has held the wash much better, and given an interesting quality to the outlines as well, but the outline colour is very different to how it normally looks, which was curious.

I'm not really up to participating in this myself. Ink is not a comfortable medium for me, although it helps a bit if I rough it out with pencil first. And drawing from imagination is a bit harder than from a model. So for the most part I'm just spectating here. But that fits in with today's theme.

This is kind of already built in to the Tarot cards - there's a Fool's Journey going on and because I've picked 'literally climbing Ygdrasil' as some of the journey, some of these cards are going to be more obviously related to that than others.
Yazeh: they're ferrets, because the recipient likes them!

Times when you think "Maybe I should have left the ferret white again" - but I do like the brown, we're just lacking some contrast between foreground and tree.

Loosely based on the Albion printing press from the early 1800s, which interestingly, was designed for creating book proofs and other low-volume printing.
The pen has a big girth. A handsome black Webster which was made in Chicago about a century later.

Will what the ink you're using?
An experimental mixture of Smoky Quartz and Kiri-same (in a sample vial of course, not the actual bottles).
I was trying to get to a color that looks ancient.
