HisNibs.com update -- Picasso, Invincia Stylus and Delta
January 17th, 2012

Greetings,

Happy New Year to all!

This newsletter introduces a new model from Picasso, which I call the Candle
Flame. It should be obvious why, even if it's an interpretation by Picasso!

The Monteverde Invincia Stylus pens that I introduced in the last email, are
once again in stock. To say that the first ever fountain pen/touchscreen
stylus combination pen has been popular...would be something of an
understatement.

Although many of you took advantage of purchasing Delta pens before the
price increase on February 1st, here's a gentle reminder to those of you
that haven't.

Although the Pilot 78G page is once again showing a lot of 'sold out'
notices, have no fear, they're on their way!

Join us on our Facebook His Nibs.com fan page which can be reached directly
at https://www.facebook.com/HisNibs1.
Come join us for what has become a lively meeting place for news about pens,
ink and handwriting.

Picasso Candle Flame

Picasso Pens offers another image of the great artist's work, this time on a
hooded-nib model. This slim pen measures 5-1/4" capped, 6" posted and 4-5/8"
with cap held aside.

This is a lacquer-over-brass pen, but due to its slender design, weight is
not an issue with extended writing sessions. The finish is an off-white,
pearlescent one. It sparkles a bit under direct light, but the effect is too
subtle to capture with my camera.

The barrel displays Picasso's impression of a candleholder, candle and
flame -- as well a shadow caused by the flame, which is more identifiable
when you look at some of the original art.

Monteverde Invincia Stylus

http://www.hisnibs.com/InvinciaStylusFPPairConverter_small.jpg

"Hi Norman. I loved the Monteverde stylus FP! Very comfortable to use when
posted, and beautifully made. The all-black livery looks wonderful, too.
Perhaps they'll do a pencil version one day."
Karen Traviss, NY Times best-selling author, Portsmouth, United Kingdom

"The Monteverde Invincia arrived today. Thanks for getting it out to me so
fast. I've had a chance to play with the stylus, and it works like a dream.
I'm looking forward to inking it up so I can use the other end of the pen."
J. C., Cathedral City, CA

Now joining the Monteverde One Touch ballpoints, we offer the world's first
fountain pen/stylus combination, which allows the traditional, superior
paper-writing characteristics of the fountain pen, coupled with a stylus for
capacitive touchscreens! The round silky finished stylus is made of a unique
conductive rubber compound that makes it as responsive as your finger.

Based on Monteverde's flagship Invincia model, the Invincia Stylus also
introduces a new matte finish to the line, either in Matte Chrome or Matte
Black.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Both fountain pen models have black
steel nibs, coated with titanium for extreme durability, and are available
in B, M, F or the new stub sizes. I've found that the new, large Monteverde
nibs run about a size smaller than typical western nibs. Hence, I'd classify
the B nib as a typical medium, the M as a fine and the F as an x-fine. The
stub is a 1.1 mm medium. Please specify the nib size you'd like, by letter
or 'stub' only, to avoid confusion when ordering.

Delta price increase coming

http://www.hisnibs.com/images/Delta/Dolcevita/Medium/DolcevitaMediumMain.jpg

Although Delta's very extensive line is too large for us to stock regularly,
I can order any model that YAFA (Delta's U.S. distributor) has, and have it
in hand within a week.

I offer the pens for a 20% discount off of the retail price, and now's the
time to order -- as all of their prices go up on February 1st.

The link below is to YAFA's Delta site, where you can see all of the models
offered. Just let me know what you'd like when you email His Nibs.com --
including your preferred nib size -- and we'll get the ball rolling at these
current, reduced prices.

Pilot 78G's are on their way!

Don't worry -- more are on their way! [NOTE: They just arrived, 1/23/12!]

If we've sold out of the particular nib/color you'd like, please check back
in about a week for the expected re-stocking.

"Hi Norman, I came back from a brief weekend trip to find my pens and ink
had arrived safely on Saturday. My soon-to-be-5-year-old son and I had
great fun cleaning the pens, and he enjoyed watching me figure out how to
ink them. It was surprisingly easy, and we loved the colors of the ink. I
put a different ink into each of the 3 pens and wrote him a note using all
3-he loved it, and the pens wrote very nicely. He also asked to add the wax
seal from your note to his collection of treasures, and he then sat down to
write me a note using a colored pencil (purple, to match the tanzanite ink).
I think you might have a future customer! The "F" nib 78G is amazing; I
can't believe how smooth it is, and the Monteverde Green looks great in it.
I think writing with the "B" nib is going to take more practice to get it
consistent, but I wrote a brief note with it today with decent success. And
I used the 702 to do some writing while I taught today-the line is
beautiful, and it's more comfortable than I expected a pen of that size to
be. Thanks again for your attention to the details from nibs to notes, and
for providing such excellent writing tools."
C. P., Easton, PA

"Hi Norman, just wanted to let you know I received the pens and ink on
Wednesday. Very fast shipping, even with the border crossing. I love,
love, love the pens. The Pilot 78G - both the F and B nibs - are wonderful.
Somehow my penmanship improve with both these pens! The Hero 329 is also
great - I love the extra fine nib and this will now be my everyday writing
pen. And finally, I found inks that are beautiful, deep and bright in
colour! The Private Reserve Spearmint is the exact shade of green I was
looking for and the Purple Mojo is a wonderful shade of purple. By the way,
I had some issues filling the pens as I've never owned a pump style
cartridge, only piston style. But thanks to your video on YouTube, I was
able to follow your tips and now I'm good to go! Thanks again."
C. P., Oshawa, Canada

http://assets.flavorwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/one.jpg

"Mark Powell, whose work we discovered over at Colossal, draws incredibly
detailed, sumptuous portraits on the backs of vintage envelopes with nothing
but a regular old Bic Biro pen. These portraits, often of the elderly
subjects, are drawn on the backs of vintage envelopes, and Powell subtly
incorporates remnant text, stamps, or just the lines of folding into his
work. The result is an extremely compelling series that makes us reconsider
the lost art of letter writing - and makes us want to call our
grandparents."
