Are Conklin Crescent Fillers pressure fit or does the section screw in? AND, BHR pens can't be soaked in water, right??? I just got one in a junk-lot on ebay (huzzah!) which looks to be in good condition except for needing a new sac. Is there anything else I should know? Thanks for your help.

Vintage Conklins are friction fit sections. The crescent pressure bar is about as simple as you can get, with no springs or clips or fiddly bits in the barrel. But be VERY careful of Conklin hard rubber, as it is brittle, especially the lock ring!

I got the pen apart!!! It took eight days of daily trying but Huzzah!!! That was the only hard part. The pen is re-sacced, inked and writing. Mischief managed. Thanks for your help FredRydr.

You're quite welcome! Conklin crescents are among my favorites.

(He was getting paid to praise Wirt pens right up until Conklin bought his endorsements.)

I had one some time ago and foolishly sold it on. It was a superb writer and I like the crescent filler. I've regretted it ever since. I must find one again.

I acquired one which is exactly identical to yours as a part of a "junk" lot of pens & pen parts years ago.
It is a gorgeous pen but, unfortunately, is missing its cap clip, its lock ring and its nib.
I've been looking for each of these three components for years so I can get the pen fully restored.
However, they are tough to come by........

Good for you that you were able to salvage yours! Congrats on a job well done!

Looks great! Congratulations! I recently got my first crescent. That cautious desire during the repair process is all too familiar.
