Hi everyone,

I mentioned my custom notebooks here and on Instagram and people seemed receptive to a video so I made it and here it is:

And here's a picture:

Basically two chunky Rhodia Webnotebook inspired journals bound in leather and filled with tons of the best paper there is IMHO.

More of a tour / show and tell than a review. I love them and Don Taylor the bookbinder definitely exceeded my expectations.

Cheers!

If I had more than two thumbs, they'd all be up. Appreciate you sharing that.

Thanks everyone. Yeah--the binding is great. He used dental floss for strength and the fit and finish is top notch. The elastic is perhaps a touch too tight but that's a small thing.

Too tight elastic may stretch out to good size - too large will never shrink....

That's a very good point. Just hope it doesn't stress the board edges too much though. I guess a little distressed adds charm?

I hope it doesn't stress the board -- great looking books -- all most too nice to use...

Thanks for taking the time to show us the details of your new notebooks. Don Taylor's bookbinding skills look masterful and have produced a quality product for you.
I like the tip about carrying a piece of blotting paper around with you to cope with slow drying paper.
Wishing you many years of enjoyable use.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. If you get a chance, get this done for yourself. You won't regret it.

Gerald as.you may recall I had a book made with my paper from.Tomoe River also.

My mission was to fill a leather cover I had so the book cover was much easier and very plain in terms of my wants and need.

I just love the leather covers on yours and the personalization...I have shared two pictures

Beautiful book Mags! I'm really getting into my first journal and, of course, loving the paper. The first company to market with a mass produced notebook using this paper will clean up.

I did! But it's the cream they have and I prefer white paper. Awesome to have the option though. Makes me feel lucky to have such a fantastic store right here in our fair city. :-)
