Nevermind the ink stained hands or the desk littered with pens and bottles of ink. For situations that call for proof that one is truly a fountain pen geek:

I am sorry, I have to admit I just laughed out loud when I saw your tie.

Don't get me wrong it is a nice BRIGHT tie!

It just struck me funny - you referring to the tie as Geekier!

"Goofy" would be a much better word to describe me :haha:. I have to say that I rarely get "geeky" in person.

The tie always gets a few comments and laughs which is why I like it. Life is too short to take seriously.

In my defense, this is a normal day for me (now here's a "bright" tie for you):

Yes indeed it is bright - and seriously I am sorry = but I am honest it just struck me funny!

Thanks for the laugh - I am not laughing at you!

But it is a day after a holiday week end here in RI - VJ Day and I work in the RV Business..... Bad day is not saying enough!

Warm Regards

Too bad I couldn't find a tie like that when my dad worked in the bank and they were all required to wear ties. He loved 'different' and 'off-beat' ties.

I would wear that tie. I wore a yellow and black diagonal striped tie to my interview last week. I think you posted in a thread on FPN about dressing up for work or something like that? I remember someone with their fountain pen in the jacket breast pocket. Your photo reminded me of that.

No hate here. I wear it because I like it, but it does tend to get a smile or a laugh from people (which I enjoy). I’ve actually had two pen collectors approach me just because of the tie so in that sense it’s already been worth it.

That's a rad tie.
Thank you

I’m in Wealth Management which is one of the few fields that still require you to wear a suit and tie. I figure that I might as well enjoy being a "Suit Monkey."

I’m glad you asked. It has kind of a cool story behind it. I originally paid a ridiculous amount of money for it. After I paid, the seller sent me an email that the tie had an imperfection on it. It was the last one so he gave me a full refund, but still shipped it to me. Basically, I got a $295 tie for free. To this day, I still can’t find the imperfection.

I haven’t been able to find another one online, but it’s Burberry brand if you want to try and find another.

Yes, that was me. I’m big into “style” (not to be read as “fashion”). However, occasionally, I’ll wear certain things that make people smile or flat out laugh.

Here is a perfect example, and this may be the picture you’re thinking of. Obviously, this was meant as a joke and I don't ever wear my pens like this. Oddly enough I’m also wearing the same yellow tie.

Believe me, I know that fashion does not equate to style. :)

Thanks for the story but I couldn't wear a $295 tie anyway. My suits hardly cost that:)

I've got one covered in Watermanses which I discover I've managed to not have a picture of; blue background, but nearly as festive otherwise. That being the case, I'm not bidding on this thing I saw on Etsy this morning (http://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/129294397/pen-collection-neck-tie-free-shipping?ref=sr_gallery_4&ga_search_query=pen+tie&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=XX&ga_order=date_desc&ga_page=0&ga_search_type=all&ga_facet=pen+tie):

Not at all. I just didn't want my stunning good looks to take away from the tie :p

Since you asked. Here's a somewhat relevant picture from last weekend inside one of Montblanc's flagship boutiques in Manhattan.

here's the question:
when you say 'style,' does it rhyme with guile or foul?

I'm not sure what the point of your joke is. I see nothing wrong with taking pride in my appearance. That means everything from staying in shape to looking presentable and properly dressed wherever I go. "Properly dressed" is subjective and everyone's interpretation of those words is different.

It's good you don't take yourself too seriously which is a fatal flaw in a lot of fashion peeps.

Did you manage to walk out of that Montblanc store with your wallet intact? Pens and watches...it would have been the end of me.

I treated the boutique like a museum. I loved every single piece they had, but I was there to look and appreciate not to start spending money. I'm not the kind of person to walk into a place like that and throw down the credit card. If I plan to make a big purchase, I'm going to think about it for a while and evaluate how bad I want it. It's treated me well so far, and that methodology has been mostly kind to my wallet.
