I first heard about this event some years ago. I told an African American co-worker who had never heard of it.
June 19 was a day in which the city where I grew up allowed the black folk access to the city park and pools. The day after they drained the pools and scrubbed. While people didn't want no filthy negro germs rubbing off them.
