Introducing a very beautiful, rare and stunning Pelikan Magnum EMEGE predecessor of the Pelikan 100N exclusively for the Portuguese market.
Pelikan Magnum is the predecessor of Pelikan 100N. It is based on the Pelikan 100, in some respects parts were further used in the model 100N. The pen is often found in Portugal with the engraving EMEGE. In the official price lists it is not to be found.
Not all these pens come with the Emegê engraving, but they are often found like that in Portugal.
Emege stands for M (Eme) + G (gê), the initials of the general importer for Portugal, Monteiro Guimarães (respectively the company Monteiro Guimarães, Filho, Lda.).
The shipping notification by Pelikan below is for 1600 Magnum fountain pens exported from Germany to Portugal dates from 31st of December, 1935. This is particularly interesting since that date is prior to the official introduction of the model 100N. Thus it seems likely that the Magnum version was the first variation which had been tested on the market.
