Hi everyone, my name is Rob and I am a new(ish) fountain pen lover in Tucson, Arizona. I am a teacher and handwriting is a heated issue at my job. Seems to come up every year about if cursive or just pen and paper are even necessary at all. I use a fountain pen in class everyday and at home with my letter writing. I am just finding the FPGeeks podcasts and loving that I'm not the only geek who thinks about this stuff. Can't wait to learn new things and share this great passion of mine, cheers everyone!

Robear

Hi, and welcome! I know with your job you are in the heart of the battle. It breaks my heart to think writing would go away in schools. Such a huge hit to cognitive development and to deprive kids of the pure joy of holding a good pen. All we can do is keep fighting the good fight. Glad you have joined us!

Thanks KrazyIvan and Tracy for the warm welcome. I do wish more students had a greater appreciation for not just fountain pens but also the love of writing something (anything) by hand and making it your own. Taking pride in a handwritten note, or a long thought out developed story plot is no longer worth the trouble to most. I do it because I love it and it helps define me as the adult I try to model for my students everyday.

Man I wish! That would be most excellent, if I could afford the trip.
