View Full Version : Capless RW in the Brazilian market

The Pilot Capless RW, from 1965, came with 14 K gold and steel nibs. The external difference was on the clip--a golden clip implied a gold nib, and silvery looking clip was associated to a steel nib.

Well, the gold nib was also associated to more decorated bodies...

On the pic we3 can see, from top to bottom, a long RW with steel nib, long RW with gold nib, short RW with steel nib, and short RW with gold nib.

So, all is well... til the following pen showed up:

This is a long RW with a golden clip, but the nib is made of steel. It was sold in Brazil.

I know that replacing the nib in a Capless is very easy, but the manufacturing dates of nib and body match perfectly: June of 1967. This pen is unlikely to have been ever inked. And another RW unit sold in Brazil had the same issue--golden clip and steel nib.

So, I wonder if there were, so to speak, RW pens specifically made for the Brazilian market with this apparent mismatch. Are there any Brazilians in the room who could answer this question?

Cheers,
