Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Diamine Jalur Gemilang

This is review #235 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: This ink is exclusive for PenGallery,*Malaysia. Surprisingly, Robert Oster Blue Sea is the only ink I have close to this color. Cleaning was easy with plain water, but required plenty of extra flushes because the ink is so concentrated.

The color of this ink is difficult. :) In the swatch, where it didn't sheen, the blue leans green, but not far enough to be teal. But once it dries on paper, the green seems to disappear, leaving a darker bluer shade. Then the red sheen forms - over everything, both lighter and darker areas as seen in the zoom, for example. At that point, it's a very dark, almost purplish blue when the paper doesn't catch the light. As soon as it catches the light, it's all sheen...

Zoomed in photo (The blue part doesn't show the green lean. But this is the closest image I have.)

Screenshot (Ink too dark and unsaturated. Almost looks blue-black here, which is all wrong.)

Scan of Completed Review (I don't even know how to describe the wrongness here. :))

Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (These are sort of right in the lighter parts, but the ink on the paper is a little darker and you can see the sheen on paper.)

Line width (One of the lines used for dry time. Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100µm. The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each. The line width for this ink is roughly 263µm. With 235 inks measured, the average line width is 296µm.)

You can see the sheen appear as the ink dries and the mysterious beings growl. This intrigues me, and I do like sheen!

There's a bunny in them clouds…

Can't pronounce the ink, will probably never get it, but I sorta kinda want it. Thanks, as ever, LizEF, for brightening my Tuesdays with your reviews and serial. 👍🏻

Wow that's some pink/fuchsia sheen! Another excellent review :thumb: I agree with Makhabesh, I would skewer this ink bottle or throw it at the enemies :D

:D If he's upside down, I think I see him, otherwise, my pattern-recognition system must be off... ;)

:D Yeah, and it's a very good sheener - not smeary like some.
