OK so this is new to me. I was searching for some additional FP forums to add to my previous thread "Fountain Pen Forums around the world" when I came upon the concept of "pen spinning". It seems there is a whole international community of people whose hobby is spinning pens: http://forum.upsb.info/

Take a look at this not too bright "pen spinner":

What do you think of this?

Bogon had started a pen spinning thread over at another forum we used to frequent. It grew out of control then evolved into a pen/stationery/notebook thread. Good times. :)

Yes it quickly escalated from mechanical pencils and ballpoints & rollerballs to fountain pens.

Carlos.Q that is a fascinating forum thanks for the link.

I once suggested a pen-spinning competition between FPG-TV and the PenAddict Podcast with their fountain pens ... only Brad seemed mildly interested.
Maybe Anderson Pens Podcast vs Goulet Pens would have been a more even match up. Oh well.

If I recall correctly, Jet Pens was founded by college student whose friends were frustrated by the difficulty of getting good spinning-quality pens in the U.S.

The FP spinning contest must be held on concrete or ceramic tiles, and classed by the pens RRP, extra points for LEs :)

Carlos, thx for the tube clip. Good fun.

Especially when you just knew he would not unplug that lamp first.

Imagine trying to do that with an uncapped eyedropper...

That is really funny! Thanks for sharing! I didn't know there was such a community of pen-spinners. Some FP user should make a parody using a leaky pen, baystate blue, a cheap white dress shirt, and a tile floor. LOL

I have a colleague who is a pen spinner, but a completely annoying one because a) he only knows 1 spin/trick/whatever, b) he does it incessantly in meetings and c) he's not all that great at the trick in the first place.
