I don't know about this one. The sepia toned markers I used were going dry, and I decided to go with the faded look, but maybe I shouldn't have.

Although I had something done for each day late last month, I'm now re-doing a few of them that I'm particularly dissatisfied with. But when each day comes up, I'm going to stick with whatever I have.

But when I saw your contributions, I suddenly regretted my decision and am now trying to make up for what I missed. I can't afford to waste much time, so I draw with waterproof ink on post-it notes and color with highlighters.

The drawings themselves should be as simple as possible. Less is more - that's my motto this time!

@christof, I feel the same way also, the prompts seem to be getting more repetitive each year. As for the uninspiring/boring ones, I just skip them.

Maybe next year, we just have a word-generator (I'm sure ChatGPT is overkill for this) create a 31 words list for us. Let's forget the Inktober prompts.

The much, much more important aspect (at least to me) is having fun via sketching/drawing with the few pen-friends we have in this forum (given its idiosyncrasies).

Which is why, perhaps perversely, I kind of appreciate the prompts that repeat, that don’t resonate, that I would never have chosen myself. It means I get to have another go at something, or maybe try to spin/subvert it in some way.

This year I'm determined to feel more relaxed about whether I draw something for a daily prompt or not. If I don't fancy drawing something then I'm not going to let myself feel pressured to do so. I have plenty of other things to do with my time and it's not just drawing something that takes time. It's uploading it and editing it for size reduction etc.

Currently I'm using an older sketch pad that is a fairly dark grey and I don't like it so the first thing I do after uploading is make the background look more white. Sadly it also has the effect of making some coloured inks look different but at least I like the cleaner look of a whiter background. Once it's used I will only buy white in future. :)

Minimalist or just lazy? You decide, but I put in more effort on some of these than on others. This was done with masking fluid applied with a ruling pen, and once it dried,Noodler's Kung Te Cheng put on with a brush pen. I did widen one of the white lines with a knife after removing the making fluid, but the whole thing can't have taken more than five minutes altogether.

A disadvantage of getting these done early has been that I've had more time to look them over and become dissatisfied with them before it's time to put them up for everyone to see. I've ended up redoing a number of them, including this one. I'm still not satisfied with it, but at least it's a bit more coherent than the original version.

I've decided to show my different takes and failures, to show the creative process. All are done with Platinum Carbon Black or pencil:

Namely, the Great Beast himself, Aleister Crowley, 777 (666 wasn't enough) in perhaps his best known pose. Mr Crowley is remembered for, among other things, crucifying a frog alive, an act which upset a fair number of his admirers. Indeed, many were no doubt more repelled by that than by the thought of a human being being crucified.
