140 vs 400 (Green)

Is there a difference in the green striping of these two pens? From some pictures the 400's green is more "marbly" while the 140 is a more straightforward, plain green. Is it just the lighting of the pictures?

I believe they are celluloid and might vary from pen to pen.
They are definitely not marbled. Hope that helps. Vera

Do they use the same green celluloid?

Mine (sorry they are at home, can't get a picture) don't LOOK like the same celluloid. Much more depth of color and variation on my 400/400NN than the 140. But, that may just be how they were used and the material aged. The 140 might have been used more and faded more. We need Rick for this one.

The nib is much smaller too. The 140 nib looks dorky on a 120, 400NN or M400, and the 400N and the 500's nibs.. The latter 5 can be switched around with no problem.

The later '82-3-97 M400 is a clone of the 400N except for feed and more flexible nib.
