First shot that I’ve scouted and planned in advance.

Found the spot 12 days ago. But had to wait for the leaves to turn.
Two days ago, driving by i saw the leaves were good and the light was good but the sky sucked (cloudless and blue) so i noted the time for good light

Yesterday the clouds were decent so i arranged to be in the right spot at the correct time.
I think it turned out mostly the way i was hoping.

@ christof: The Ziegelei Schüring, Münsterland DE industrial site photo is absolutely gorgeous. The way the light falls on the stacked pallet and the wheel and whatever it's mounted on creates a very painterly effect, almost like a still life. Very effective, very beautiful.

What does the entire, uncropped photo look like? (Inquiring minds want to know.)

They are three separate photos. So i suppose “crop” is not the correct word. Perhaps “shot” would be more appropriate. All three were taken at the same place at the same time (obviously) but then all three were edited similarly but not identically. There is a crop applied to the first version. Its actually a wider pano but i felt like the extra width did not improve the photo and in fact made it less impactful.

No. Tried the heading tool. There is only so much time and effort I can/will dedicate to an image as I have limited time available as well as issues concentrating on a single task for extended periods of time. Not to mention my ancient super out of date computer that makes everything harder and take 5 times longer than it should…leading to a great deal of frustration

Please, share it. Thank you for the effort!

I’m glad you like the photos. We moved here in August from an area dominated by flat farmland. The colours of the leaves here are amazing. We keep saying it’s like “Vermont light”. Vermont is like this place, but with the knobs all turned to 11.

That said, the colours are now past peak and starting to turn brown. Soon everything will be white. For months… and months. Oh well at least now there’s lots of crown land to go snowshoeing and explore (there was no crown land anywhere near where we used to live)

But the change in landscape from the move has required me to learn how to frame completely different scenes from our old place. And I was just starting to get the hang of that. A “photographer “ I am not. I’m just a guy who really likes beautiful scenery and struggles with trying to capture the feelings it evokes.

I’m really glad you like the pictures, it’s beautiful here and I’m trying to capture/share that.

I'm sure there are excellent images throughout this thread, but something about the rendering on this site makes them all look poor. I'm a good photographer, and I use a 32" monitor at 4K. I process images in Lightroom and Photoshop. When this thread first popped up I looked and decided I wouldn't post any images here.

If you really like color, you might want to look at a gallery I curate at Flickr, other photographers' images, not mine. It's called "The Sound of Color."

"In 1666 the first color wheel was invented by Sir Isaac Newton, best known for his theories on gravity, motion, and light. Newton used a triangular prism to split a beam of white into a rainbow, proving that light is composed of a spectrum of hues – ROYGBIV. Newton believed colors shared harmonious relationships with one another and went so far as to assign musical notes to each hue."

Wow. that is some knock-your-eyeball-out super-saturated color. I wonder if part of the reason these images don't "render" the same is because they're using a more muted, earth tone palette. Let me try an experiment, and post one of the photos from your curated collection here, and see if looks dull and lifeless or not.

Wow .. Photoshop 1 / CD/ Zip disks / Floffy disks/ Palm writer/ Coral draw. Apple Aperture are my nostalgic vintage stuff ...

Now the photoshop sucks. It is 200% AI Photography. Of course Photoshop is a digitising Pixilation programme from imaging. But. But.. for me It is now nothing to do with main creativity regarding images from any medium of camera negative / sensor based image capture to a Screen or prints.
I am a photographer and still use PS Creative cloud. But what I am using/ employing is just the same simple manipulations I did used during long very First Version of the PS.
My first Version was a borrowed version of a cloned copy from a friend. I guess I continually used it up to date. But I never "photoshopped" my photography. It was just used for occasional resizing and A LOT OF SPOTTING , for some removel of minor distractions.

Now the present PS is on a Daily/ weekly/ monthly/ annual transmutation. which I think is utter nonsense. As a result PS is a very greedy software which needs more memory/ Disk space plus/ more updated Graphic cards. It is impossible to use comfortably unless you are ready to advance your hardware . That is due to its Silly upgrading of million of software connected to Creative clouds. Ex. If you subscribe to Just one single programme. PS only, You don't have an option but need to get the Creative cloud APP which is having Millions of other Useless apps for you. So THE CREATIVE CLOUD IS A HUGE SHIT ..The problem starts there. IT IS HOOKED TO ALL GOOGLE SPY WARE PLUS ALL MARKETING SHITS. FORUMS AND CROWD CONNECTIONS AS WHATS UP CULTIURE . NOW ADOBE HAS created ANOTHER CROWD connection/ Programme called Adobe max.
I had change my Older I Mac to a better faster Mack and it was because of the PS. Now I use PS 2020 version only as I don't want to up grade My Mac OS to the Latest version . I have stopped my Mac Os On to a Last line.

So this is how the consumerism works.
You have to drop everything and change into the next one THEY PROPOSE.
It start with the photoshop.. Adobe was the first Cooperation who introduced SHITTY CLOUD CULTURE. THEN Apple joined the club . Killed all the music/ CD / records / Killed all the books . there come many things on the agenda. Now diesel cars/ And soon it will be the Petrol cars/
Aeronautic industry will be next and it will be last for Electric but not the anti-gravity. What is next.... Your wife or husbgy must be upgradable ... your religion must be too upgradeable and it is a necessity. Well we are in a new normal world. YES IT IS FUN.
Sorry if have kidnapped this thread and it is on photography. Yes I am still looking for my photos in my SHOE-BOX >>.:agree:

Thanks. Glad you like it. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out
I’m glad the falling snow shows up in the picture.

Really enjoy viewing this landscaping series.

The depiction of the season is so real.

Tks. I’m really glad you’re liking it
Unfortunately for the series. All the snow melted today.
(Fortunately, for me. Since I don’t like shoveling snow and prefer safer roads to drive on…)

The pic above is I think my fav pic I’ve ever taken. (That is not of my son)

B&W version over in that thread (since I can’t decide which I like better)

I'm no photographer, but I did catch some colour recently. While in NYC for a concert event, we had time off, taking a lovely back to and from the Museum of Natural History via Central Park. At the museum, we got a ticket for one of the special events, their live butterfly house. It was remarkable (and hot and humid!) I looked down at one point and simply snapped this shot with the phone.

No, this is new to the series.

The early dusting of snow makes this a favourite.

Tks. There’s something about snow on pine trees that I really like.

Same shot. Different edit. Not sure which I prefer

Thoughts? Which do you prefer, and why?

Thoughts... Well No2 has enhanced contrast. The more subtle misty soft contrast of no1 is not quite misty enough, if it were more misty the softness of the tones would be very nice, but it just looks a bit 'soft' without having the atmosphere a very misty shot would have.
So I like the slightly sharper more contrasty look of no2.

I prefer the first one. It's more like a painting, evokes a sense of mystery. The 2nd one is too sharp, too 4k or whatever the is the k now [emoji846]

Since you posted red Adirondack chairs. I rarely ever see them in that color, but came across a couple in the front of a house in Haddonfield, NJ USA.

You are not the first person to refer to the softer one as “like a painting” :)
I like that about it too.

Red muskoka chairs are kind of a thing here…

In fact. It’s rare to see them in any other colour in my neck of the woods :)

Great shot btw :)
