The pen is very interesting. It has a comforting weight to it and is exceptionally balanced. I liked the pictures showing its simplicity and quiet style but holding it is a different matter. The deep black barrel gleams and the clip is a great accent. The nib, I was told, is a brand new design. It has a very nice amount of spring without overly spreading the tines. This gives the nib a very soft feel. I also noted that STOD was engraved on the nib. I also like the fact the nib is a white gold color instead of yellow which imho would clash horribly with the rest of the pen. The size of the pen is deceptive. When capped the nib has to be retracted so the pen is a nice compact size. When capped to pen is 4 3/4 inches. However, when uncapped and the nib extended the pen is 5 inches. You twist the end of the pen to extend and retract the nib. You cannot cap the pen with the nib extended. You pull out the end of the pen and it makes a satisfying click. Then you can twist the end to draw up the ink. After filling you push the end back in till it clicks again. I was not sure about the emblem on the cap when I saw the first pictures of this pen. However, in person, this emblem has a subtle sheen that complements the simple beauty of the rest of the pen. The pen also writes very well. The softness of the nib means a very good writing experience indeed. Overall, I am very happy with this pen.

I never thought I would buy a modern montblanc but this pen is an absolute joy to write with.

Very interesting indeed!

Seeing that there is a non-existent section and the threads are right in the gripping area, is this pen really comfortable to hold (i.e. write with) for extended periods of time?

Thank you for the short review mate. A fascinating pen indeed, truly a connoisseur pen. I have a soft spot with organic straight section (from GvFC). What a beaut.

The threads are very close to the "end" so my fingers are not touching them - but are very close.

It is very comfortable to hold for extended periods of time. I generally prefer larger pens but this one, possibly due to its weight, works very well for me.

I second this.

Gorgeous pen, great short review and really dreamy pics. :)
One small question: "Do you know if there is some significance/symbolism relating to the triangular breather hole?"

"Do you know if there is some significance/symbolism relating to the triangular breather hole?"

It has something to do with the Temple Of Set but details cannot be revealed to people who don't own the pen.

There is a reason for the triangular breather hole on the nib. According to the booklet that came with the pen: "Its design with a triangle shaped heart hole, elegantly underlines the avant-garde character of the edition". Many of the earliest MBs had a heart shaped breather hole on the nib.

I tested one of these last weekend. The nib was lovely and the pen well balanced. It was just priced too high at around $1,200 and in titanium they wanted $13,000 yes I typed that price correctly.

It is priced too high. Buy from a dealer in Europe and save the 21% (in tax). If the dealer has a % sale you get more off. I researched it after I went to the local mb boutique and gave it (and all the nibs) a test drive. I got mine with an OB nib from the get go.
