Good day folks!
I'm a bit perplexed about this pen I bought out of an estate sale. I've been told that it is a 'fake' as cap and barrel are't in the same pattern. Anybody can shed sone light?
Nib and barrel have Canada imprint, so I assume these are legit.
Ideas? It writes very well.
Thank you

Not a fake, I don’t think, but does seem to be mis-matched cap and barrel. In the early stages of the colored Duofold, there were two of the blue materials: a darker, blue-on-blue and a blue with white specks. If you go to parkercollector.com, pick Duofold from the left index, and scroll down until you get to the section on 1927, you will see info about the two colors, with pictures.

That is a nice pen, thanks for sharing. Certainly not fake indeed. Perhaps a mismatch in terms of the two different Lapis blue materials but the cap is period correct to match the barrel. The blue on the cap indeed seems to be more vivid, with few or no white specks, than the blue on the barrel. The blue-on-blue Duofold is quite scarce and valuable.

Jos, Jon, thank you for your inputs. I had a look at the Parker Penography site. 'Fake', as a joke, pieces are from the correct era but somebody has assembled one pen from two, probably.
The Lapis Blue with white specs is not as rare as the blue on blue one but I don't care, I have a Lapis Blue Duofold that I can use.
This one is a little bit discolored but I do not mind as I've seen worse on ebay and other sites. I will have another mission now, trying to find a correct cap for my barrel beside a nib for my Baby Jack Knife :-)
The pen is nice and comfortable in the hand. It writes well. I paid very little for it too :-)
Regards and take care

Wahl, out of curiosity, why is it so shiny? Which product have you used or do you use on your vintage pens to make them shine, please?

Morning!

I found this, which shows resemblances: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fvimt6enm tvd11.jpg%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3D61dfeca6f7dffde52a77 531201f2664dff7d4d00&rdt=47931

> It writes very well

Good, that's the main point. Be glad!

Have fun!

Hi Claes, thank you for your link. The 'anomaly' is the different colour patterns in cap and barrel. The Cap is 'blue-on-blue' so it seems, the barrel is blue and white specs. In the picture at the link you posted the owner says that his pen is from 1927, this is wrong as the two cap bands were introduced from 1928. So the question is, would Parker replace any cap if and when somebody asked for a repair?

I donīt use any product on my pens, never, just rub them with a microfiber cloth after handling to temove any marks left by my fingers.

Metal parts, just a gentle rub with sunshine cloth, or similar.
