I have not inked it up yet but Kaigelu nibs are very smooth. This pen is one of the lower end in Kaigelu's lineup but still one of the better Chinese pens out there. The cap screws in as does the converter. It is on the very edge of the blingy scale for my taste. I wish the furniture was a silver rhodium trim instead of the gold plating. It's an all acrylic pen but has a little bit of heft to it. Very close to a TWSBI in weight just by holding it. What attracted me to it is the blue, black and yellowish-green striated cap.

I'm not sure the pen fits my personal preference but you did a heck of a good job with the photos! I could definitely get used to seeing more of this kind of stuff.

Hehe, the pens are an acquired taste. :p More nib grinding practice for me. :D

Thanks for the photo comment. They were taken with my rooted Epic4G running Froyo and updated camera firmware from Samsung.

Hey, now you're speaking my language! I have an Epic 4G rooted and rom'd running Android 4.0.3. ICS is amazing. I highly suggest looking into upgrading if you haven't.

Not a bad looking pen, but I sure don't like using metal sections. And I *do* like to write with my pens.

Thanks for sharing this. I really like the color of the material. The streaks have an interesting look to them.

I never quite understood why metal sections get a bad wrap. I like writing with my pens too. I think I am just desensitized from years of death grip writing. I could never write for more than 5 or ten minutes at a time and now, with the time I spend writing, it's great, no matter what pen I use.

There are people who apply some pressure when writing who then slip and end with their fingers on the inky nib - like me =(

I don't mind metal sections per se and most of the times even welcome them as I like pens with some "head weight". They also help to balance out the pen.
But I prefer them with ridges so I don't slip so easily => the Kaigelu is not to my liking despite looking quite awesome.

Oh, the metal section is just totally personal choice, I know other people that like them as well. But smooth, shiny metal is a pretty uncompromising material, and just doesn't feel anywhere near as connected to me as other materials for sections. Just personal preference, that's all.

There is a solution for that. DO NOT APPLY PRESSURE. And it comes with a side-benefit. You will tire less when writing. Try it.

Cheers,
Peter

I know only too well... I've been trying for years and writing with a light plastic Kaweco Classic Sport or Reform 1745 helps a lot.
When I went to primary school there was no teacher who taught me as a lefty how to correctly hold a pen and write => heavy overhand-hand, lots of pressure. And that happened in Germany where normally (at my school time) learning to write with a fountain pen was almost part of the curriculum.

In primary school the teacher told us two left handers in the class to write with the right hand. Neither of us did.
We all had to use a sort of dip pen back then.

KI, as usual great pen photos. I think silver would have been a better colour choice too. The cap colouring is very exotic and I really like the cap button logo too.

I can't imagine the metal grip being too much of a problem unless you are trying to write after putting on handcream or something.

Which ink are you intending to use with it ?
Looks like a medium nib are you going to stub it ? (is that the correct terminology)

@Bogon:
I used the pen with a sample of Iroshizuku Kon-Peki. It was what made me notice it's likeness to Pricvate Reserve Tropical Blue.

@goldiesdad: Thanks. :)

nice pen! i have the white cap one. about the section: this one is wide enough so your fingers don't slip. i do see a problem with some metal sections and they are not my preference. this is one exception along with the Visconti Rembrandt.

thx for the pix, krazy man!
