Found it in my pen box. The non says "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. PAT. OFF (the meaning of which is clear) but that is all. Tarnish tells me sterling silver, it is a lever fill and the lever has the Waterman "Ideal" stamp. A loop on one end says to me it belongs on a chain. The other end says 452 and below that 1/2 V. It's tiny (to me) and I put it with the TWSBI 580 for comparison. It is engraved with a leaf and flower motif, with an area left on the body for engraving maybe? I have a vague recollection someone gave this to me but it's not sentimental.

Waterman's 452 1/2 not the filigree though. Looks like a keeper. Here is the filigree http://youtu.be/9s4O0pkUU2A

It's not the same design as the Art Deco either.

Well aren't you just a lucky person. That would fit so well in my waistcoat pocket, opposite my watch.

It's a purse pen or vest pocket pen. I found a similar pen made by Edison (http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread.php/2378-What-is-your-latest-pen-acquisition?p=51749&viewfull=1#post51749) last year. Haven't had the time to restore it yet, unfortunately.

Richard Binder's site has a chart for Waterman's numbering system (http://www.richardspens.com/?page=ref/design/wat_nos.htm). According to it, your pen is:

4 = Sterling overlay, barrel and cap
5 = Lever filler (LF)
2 = Nib size (second smallest)

1/2 = Slender model
V = Vest pocket (short) model

The pattern on this overlay is called Hand Engraved Vine. It was generally the most expensive of the commonly offered Waterman overlay patterns.

Hand Engraved Vine. This was the most expensive of the standard catalogued overlay patterns, and the only one for which clips and levers were engraved to match.

If you want to sell it let me know.... I have the same pen.... I would like to have a pair...
