Hi guys, this is my first post in the Pelikan forum. I made a couple in the newbie introduction forum when looking at this pen. Anyway, my M405 arrived this past Friday and is my first nice FP. I thought I'd share a couple photos I took this weekend. All I can say is this is a beautiful pen that writes as nice as it looks. Now the question is: Where do I go from here? Have a great week everyone!

That's lovely! I keep thinking I need to try a modern blue Pelikan... I'm so tempted now!

There is nowhere to go from here. You have started at the end. I am jealous. Enjoy a wonderful pen!

Man O man those pictures outside really show off just how gorgeous that finish is!

Beautiful pen that will no doubt last longer than any of us. You really jumped in with both feet.

Congrats ! :clap2:

Where from here?
Ha, some question.
You can go upwards, downwards or try sideways.
Upwards: aim to the M600s, M800s, M1000s.
Downwards: other sizes, models of Pelikan
Sideways: other brands. Sheaffer, Pilot, Parker, Waterman, Onoto, Visconti, Lamy...
There are galaxies waiting to be explored.
Sorry if this is no answer, the world of the FPs is a s complex as life itself.
After all it's only a matter of about 5000 years of human writing history :-)

Hey thanks for all the kind compliments guys! I've been using Waterman "Mysterious Blue" Ink so far and it really compliments the pen (color wise) and suits my fancy. I will surely be looking at other inks in the future as well. As for where to go from here... I've already been looking around and a Sailor Pro Gear II pen caught my eye. Any thoughts on Sailors or the Pro Gear line of pens? I may look at another Pelikan as well. Although more pens will probably be "in the future rewards" for myself. For now, I am as pleased as I can be with the Pelikan. It writes every bit as nice as it looks! Thanks again everyone and I'm glad to be a member of this community! -Chad

Love that Pelikan. I think you can't go wrong with a Sailor Pro Gear.

Two of my favorite pen companies are Pelikan and Sailor. Keep in mind that Sailor nib sizes are about one size narrower than modern Pelikan nib sizes. So your Pelikan medium nib would be approximately a Sailor broad. If you like very narrow nibs, like I do, then a Sailor fine nib is wonderful. The Sailor medium nib is a good size for many people.

Congratulations! And blue is my favourite colour! Use it in good heath.
