View Full Version : Suggestion for Geek of the Week?

Hi Dan and Eric!

I've been looking for someplace to post a suggestion for a GOTW interview....don't see one. Probably in stealth mode. :)

My suggestion is a fellow named Stephen Brown --he has a YouTube channel called 'sbrebrown'. Funny, interesting, nice pen collection---and he has the cutest little gerbil that not only eats raisins in an adorable manner, but also, if title is any clue, appears to be a member of the British Royal Family.

I should also mention that Monsieur Brown lives in a foreign land (not sure which one but it's not California).
However, that's probably not an issue because international time zones pose no problems pour Les Geeques des Stylos !

Cheerio for now,
CR

P.S. Or could he do a co-hosting or guest drop-in for the podcast/video/fpradio show? We know he's got the camera, right? ;)

Add my vote. I really like his youtube channel because he reviews a wide variety of pens. There's a pen for everyone.

I submitted an email, suggesting Pendleton Brown. I never heard back, but I thought I'd chime in here. PB would be a *great* interview!

I would also be interested in a GOTW interview with Stephen Brown. Great suggestion!

Yeah, Stephen would be a great Geek of the Week interview (he lives in The Netherlands) and so would Pendleton Brown.
Great ideas! :)

Okay! Sounds like we have a show! Featuring guests Stephen Brown, and Pendleton Brown.

So let's see. There have been 16 Podcasts so far. If they wait for 25 more, then Stephen and Pendleton will appear on the Very Special Podcast known as:

"#41 BROWN"!!! Sponsored by Noodlers Ink. Of course.

Or they could cut the wait, hop to it, and see if they could get site sponsorship from UPS. ;)

Just out of curiosity, do Dan or Eric ever respond? I sent a PM with this suggestion a week or so ago and never heard anything back, which is why I posted in this thread...

Hey Jon, we got your suggestions. Thank you very much for sending them. We usually don't respond to those unless you have a specific question about something, but you can be sure they all go on a list for us to reference later.

To everyone else in this thread, especially Carole, thanks for posting in here. We love to hear your suggestions.

Hi Dan--I've never been able to post before! I thought maybe you guys had a restraining order on me. :)

P.S. Does anybody know how to translate 'Fountain Pen Geeks' into different languages? I Geechi Penne Stilografiche? Les Geeques du Stylos? I don't think that's correct, somehow......

Cheers! I'm fairly new around here, so I was just checking. Enjoying the site, so I'll try to contribute as best I can, and thanks for all you do.

BTW, after a year of being involved in pendom, I think the geek factor has truly kicked in: I've been taking the GotW recordings on my iPhone and listening to them at the gym. I don't dare let anyone know what is coming out of the ear buds...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that all of your GotW interviewees thus far sell and/or service fountain pens professionally. I think that it would also be great to profile some of the prolific FP collectors in the community.

Have you guys also considered doing any short-form written interviews for the site? This would be a great way to feature FP collectors and highlights from their collections (i.e. post lots of FP pictures!).

Keep up the great work guys!

I know Eric and Dan have to attend to "real life," but has anyone heard if they are planning to post any more Geek of the Week podcasts? It's been a while, and those were my favorite parts of the FP Geeks network.

I think the person chosen has to also agree to the interview. Just a guess but I think Mr. Binder may be pretty busy. I am waiting for that interview.

I think I remember hearing or reading somewhere that Mr. Binder was shy to the idea of doing a Geek of The Week. I agree though, it would be fantastic to listen to Eric pick his brain!

Holy Guacamole, Batman! And Dan and Eric! I'm just catching up with your latest podcast and heard you announce next week's guest, --I vaguely remembered maybe writing in a suggestion for such a great event. Was happy to find this post and realize it wasn't just a freeway-induced hallucination. Please consider yourselves the recipients of a socially-appropriate great big hug for being so fabulous. I don't know how you guys could be any more adorable. I really don't.

Maja, you and me both then I love his videos though I have just had to chastise him after his Hero 616 video when he admitted he does not own a 51!
How can he be a fountain pen geek and not own a 51:jaw: hopefully he will rectify this now his Geekdom is getting larger with his upcoming FPGeeks podcast!

KrazyIvan

I don't own a 51. I do own two 21's. I just don't like hooded nibs. I always lose the right way up. It annoys me to no end.

Two 21's makes one 42, now you need a Parker 9. But then, 42 IS the answer to life, the universe and everything, in't it?

It is actually 41.99999999999998 and someone just rounded up, perpetuating that whole 42 thing.

Ahh, but they are close enough Ivan! As to the problem of which way up I have the answer...

Sorry, the one I also added did not work well.

In light of your avatar perhaps this one would though not solve the problem, make up for it!

"Frikis de las Plumas" would be a good Spanish. Spain Spanish, Americans will have a different word in each country.

In some parts the word geek does not translate and it is left in it's English form. "Frikis" sounds more like "freak" to me.
