This pad comes from PaperForFountainPens.com (http://bit.ly/1bVFhDT) and is also available in cream. Until now I had primarily used smaller pages for correspondence but having this 100 page pad I have started to use the larger size more often. I quite like the area I have to write more when I am in a long form frame of mind. It is also good for some creative writing projects.

This pad is glue bound with a chipboard back and a paper front cover stamped with the Paper for Fountain Pens web address. I actually took the front cover off and use it as a buffer between the page I am writing on and the next page to prevent indentations on the next usable page. I like having the backer board so I can use this in my lap although I generally will still get another hard book to give even more support.

7201

Each page is cut to standard US letter size and removes cleanly from the pad so there are loads of applications here. You can punch the pages for binders or do what I mostly use it for, writing letters.

If you have never used Tomoe River paper I think the first thing you will notice is how smooth it is. There is little to no fiber feel. Secondly, this paper is quite thin. It’s only 52gsm so you can see through it easily when held to the light. That does not mean though that ink gets through. So far I have seen no bleedthrough when writing on these pads at all. You won’t be using both sides of the sheet unless you use a light ink with a fine nib but fountain people often avoid the back of the page in most cases anyway as the time ink takes to dry can sometimes be prohibitive by pausing your train of thought before continuing.

7204

In conclusion I unreservedly have to say that I love this paper and this size pad. I like the wide open feel and smooth texture of the larger page. If you haven’t tried Tomoe River before I would highly recommend it.

Ordered a couple of the white pads. So far I have only been able to get it in A5 which is an irritating size to me most of the time when I am writing. Thanks for posting on this.

I've heard about this paper many times but had no idea where to get it. Thank for posting this, Heath! Ordered cream color pad to see if I like it.

Thank you, Heath. I especially like the GK Chesterton quote!

Thanks for the updated information. I've bought the loose sheets and the journal previously and the seller is great. I'm glad to see the pads available. Hope they will be available in cream in the US size soon, too.

+1 on Nanami Paper... Dave is great and ships a well packed package.

He also started his own line "Seven Seas" which are bound beautifully.

Ha! I managed to snatch up some A5 pads (yellow and white) there but I've seen them sold out a lot, so wondered if you had a different source. Good thing to know I'm at the right place for it :)

Thanks!

I've got the blank book you see in the Heath's photo. I love it for a particular journal I keep! I also use the Seven Seas pad from Nanami for stationery. It's definitely my favorite "species" of paper so far.

The 8.5x11 just arrived. The size really changes the "feel" of the letter as I write. Fancied it up a bit with a gold, stamped olive branch in the corner to make it feel like stationery...

I read Chi Town's post as saying NOT in the 8 1/2 by 11 so I assumed he was after the more ubiquitous A4/B5/A5

Right. Sorry. Then Nanami is the best.

I am having trouble finding A5(-ish) Tomoe River pads in WHITE. Even loose, I am only seeing cream for sale in the smaller size. Know where I might find some?

Yeah, I saw that. But I am seeking a glued pad (for correspondence sheets), not a notebook. But thanks.

I highly recommend ordering from Paper For Fountin Pen. They do a fantastic job of packaging, and I love the hand written thank you note that came with it. :) And it got to me so quickly I didn't get any anxiety about wondering how soon I could get my hands on the notebook!
