I received my Tomoe River Notebook today and it is spectacular. The paper is the usual wonderful quality and seeing it lined for the first time is strange but wonderful. The outside cover is not fancy, a tan cardboard, but it would fit nicely into a notebook cover that I don't have (yet) and is more than serviceable as is. Comes with a place holding ribbon, opens pretty flat and seems well bound. I'm very pleased.

Mine arrived as well. WAY nicer than what I was expecting, not sure why, so I echo your feelings of being very pleased. Very substantial notebooks. Did yours come with what I assume is a heavy sheet for inserting as a writing surface? That is a nice touch given how soft the paper is. For those asking, Nanami Paper is where we ordered them. :)

I think they only had them in A5.

Yes A5, about 8.3x8. Perfect journal size. And yes, with the sheet to provide a writing surface, though I don't know if it is really necessary.

Is this the cardstock covered one for ~$35?

I adore Tomoe River paper! I just wish some of the Australian stockists would bring it into the country; the international postage rates on paper are a killer

I'm not sure if I should thank you or complain.

You kids have pushed me further into the delightful Tomoegawa abyss.

I just got a bound Tomoe River journal--it has @330 pages from "Paper for Fountain Pens" online. It's about 5.25 in x 8.25 in [not sure what the "A" designation is]. It's hardcover, dark navy cloth bound, and the paper is cream.

It is so fine, I'm a bit in awe of it, but I'm starting a project that seems to deserve it so I know I'll get some ink on it soon.

Did I miss something? I can't see where you got it from? I have the Paper for Fountain Pens version, which is fabulous, but A5 and lined would be total perfection.

I received a few notebooks and a leather cover and immediately ordered more notebooks. What amazing notebooks! There is a certain thrill to seeing the paper lined as Writingrav mentioned.

Forget x-mas presents - buy these notebooks!

Oh, how annoying - they don't ship to Australia. Lucky for my wallet though.

Oh, yes they do. My two A4 pads arrived early this week. Fabulous paper - the pens just love it!

I purchased the A5 version for $9 USD and liked it so much I bought two of the B5 sized that are in route.
It's surprising to me how thin the paper is yet the ink does not bleed through to the next page which a couple of times I thought it should.
Nice cream color too.

Another solid choice here would be the one that Paperforfountainpens.com (http://Paperforfountainpens.com) makes. It won 2013 paper of the year on my blog and is a bit cheaper than the other one listed in this thread and it's hardbound. I love mine.

My review is going up this week for it. http://penpaperinkletter.com

I just got my journal from Paperforfountainpens.com. I've been busy but looks like finally have some time to sit down and write today. I'm thinking about looking for a cover or making one :-)

I wanted to give a pen-friend one of Jay's notebooks, as this friend has given me wonderful pen-related gifts. I had given one of these notebooks to another friend and kept one for myself, and I hadn't started writing in it yet (because I had just started another notebook, so... I'm not one of those who has several notebooks going at once). I struggled over how to give this friend a Tomoe River notebook (at a recent Pen Posse, he was astonished with the paper, so I knew he'd like it) without having to wait too long and pay a huge customs fee (30%).

ARGH! So I gave him my notebook and ordered a Nanami Seven Seas notebook for myself (only one, so there won't be a customs fee, cos the price of one doesn't meet the minimum for which customs is (are?) due), which was sent last week, and I don't know how long it will take to get here, but about an hour ago, I wrote on the last page of my current notebook (the last page sneaked up on me), and now... ARGH! V! E! R! N! I NEEDS A NOTEBOOK! I mean, duh, I can get any ol' notebook, but I don't want any ol' notebook. Sigh.

ANYWAY, all this to say that I am eager to receive the Seven Seas notebook.
