I like using gouache for writing, as it's very dense and even. This is just a little demonstration of the possibilities with a range of colours.

I need to ask. What is your scanner setup and your post processing regiment?

I scan my writing on a Canon "Canoscan 100". I then import the file into Photobucket and upload from there, to the website. There is no "post processing", as I understand the term.
I know very little about computers, and it took me ages just to learn how to upload images!

Thank you for your comments.
A couple of tips for anyone thinking of trying this for the first time.
Never cross thick strokes with thick strokes - it never looks good.
Cross lines at as a high angle - at right angles, if possible. Thios creates an open, airy look to the flourishing shape.
