Here's one of my favourite vintage pens - a 1925 Morrison #2 Vest Pocket lever filler in Battleship Grey with a 14kt gold medium nib.

7429

The Morrison is quite a small pen that I need to cap to be able to write. Here it is alongside my Frankenpen Pelikan M400 (M400 body, M250 cap) for a size comparison.

7430

The pen was acquired in NOS condition from Gary Lehrer (gopens.com) some time back. It blows me away being able to acquire an 89 year old pen that's never been inked. You wonder what sort of drawer this little feller sat in for all those years and what was going on around it. I've kept it in the inked roster for long periods and have enjoyed writing many a letter with it. At the moment it is having a rest.

What a lovely pen that is, and does not show its age at all (condition and style alike). I particularly admire the logo on the lever's tab, very intricate and tasteful.

It's great that this pen is getting inked and used in your possession.

Well spoken: that's one of the joys of owning such a treasure. Thanks for sharing.

Handsome pen. Here's the same model in a full size 5½ inch FT.

Interesting and odd. Often as models get larger the scale of the trim changes. Not in this case.

Thanks for the pic Dan. Interesting ... the only differences that I can spot are the riveted clip and the white infill on the barrel inscription.

Apparently Morrison had some success with the color.

Using the clip as an indicator I'd think mine to be early 1920, and yours to be a tad
younger, say mid '20s or so. Here it is again with an Art Deco clip that could be
some time in the '30s.

This pen has a syringe fill system also used in the brand's Patriot line. Patriots
were offered during the war years, where I recall seeing the color being used again.

Don't have an example to show, but it would be interesting to see how/if the
clip evolved.

This pen is a bit smaller than the multi-band version, 13.1 cm, 5.15 inches.
