It's getting close to that exciting time of the year to buy a new diary!

In a tchnology dominant world I've tried using electronic diaries such as on my phone but I just never use it and find them a bit cumbersome to use compared to a physical dedicated diary.

I've had a moleskine daily planner for the last year which I've liked but it isn't the best for fountain pens (as we all know).

What have you all been using for the past year and are getting for next year?

I used the iPad for the year and next year I'm switching to the Rhodia 6x9 weekly notebook. It is Fp friendly and has a nice feel to the cover. I'm very happy with the book except it was pricey.

I've already got mine sitting ready, the A4 sized Leuchtturm 2014 Master Daily Diary.

It's to make sure I definitely have some daily writing as much as anything else.

Every year they order it for me at work and the stationery supplier we use actually make their diaries with FP friendly paper.

I hate wasting stationery, so every year I'm deprived of the experience of shopping for my own.

Last year I used a Rhodia weekly planner, but I didn't like the tight line spacing on the diary side.

This year I used a Midori Traveler's Notebook (passport size) with a weekly planner refill (http://www.gouletpens.com/Midori_Travelers_Notebook_Refill_007_Passport_p/tn14327006.htm), which worked out well.

I had planned to keep using the Midori inserts, but then I saw the Hobonichi Techno planner (http://www.1101.com/store/techo/2014/planner/detail_hontai/c_hpr_m.html), which has Tomoe River paper (!!). I couldn't resist the lure of a diary printed on Tomoe River, and I ordered it, along with a pretty blue cover (http://www.1101.com/store/techo/2014/planner/detail_cover/c_l_robinegg.html). It arrived yesterday, and I have already started using it (it includes the month of December 2013). Of course I love the paper--but I've been surprised by how much I like the format. It's very thoroughly thought out, and I appreciate the extra space of the page-per-day layout. The cover is really nice as well and I'm glad I splurged for it. After years of searching for the perfect diary, I finally seem to have found it.

Take a walk to Dymocks then smugly walk around the shelves of diaries and see how much money you've saved.
Then buy a nice notebook with the amount you thought you'd saved.
Have a look at the Papercraft Gold Slab notebook while you are there, it looks too good to use.

Are you talking about one of these (http://daycraft.co/en/41-slab)? :pound:
Cool gift idea for those who don't mind something so ostentatious though.

I've been using Midori Traveler's notebook monthly calendar as my planner and ruled notebook refills as my journal. I will continue to do so next year. I have not seen ink that doesn't work with Midori paper. I also like the way my cover is getting naturally distressed. It really tees me off that the price of most Traveler's Notebook products here are almost double the Japanese price

Somebody gave my a nice small notebook from Tiger Stores (Denmark) which is very nice (flex covers, elastic strap holding it fast, pages arranged in different sets of colors) but Alas! it does not withstand the attack of the broad nib from my M 149 so I write in one page and leave the reverse blank.
I still have to find a notebook that can stand an abundant nib like my broad M 149 or my TWSBI 580
Cheers from Buenos Aires

I don't feel obliged to switch diaries on Jan 1st, I just keep writing until it's full. In that manner I use 3 to 4 pc. 192 page 9x14's, Moleskine, Sigma or Oxford Optik in the house. On the road I use 96 p softcovers by Moleskine or AgeBag, 5 or 6 in a year and also not replaced because of specific dates. Just date the notes so if someone should ever want, they know how to get things in the right order ;-)

You might wanna check out Oxford Optik (http://www.my-oxford.de/), it's 90 grams paper, quite smooth and so far, only Diamine and Conway Stewart (also Diamine) makes it to the other side. Even a Parker Broad (my supersoaker) works.

Just got my Filofax inserts! I admit, they're not very FP-friendly, but I have a bunch of gel pens I prefer to use on them instead (Pilot Hi-Tech-C, in 0.3 nib, and DongA Miffy in 0.5 - tiny tips!), so it's okay. The ability to modify the system is a bit more important to me than what ink they'll take, because I'm a bit fussy and forgetful. Still need to reorganize everything, but I'll get to that in the next few days.

I have not used a daily planner yet, but having made a decision to start thinking more strategically (i.e more than 1 day ahead!) I have, like Reprieve, bought a Hobonichi. It looks almost to good to use! :)

I do not normally use a daily planner either, that isn't electronic anyway. But this year I got the bomber jacket leather cover for my work Circa for Christmas, and it looks so nice. It came with a gift card so I sat down and ordered the monthly tabs and a pull out calendar (all on sale!) And some other odds and ends for it so that this year is perhaps just a little more organized than the last. I stayed pretty organized, but plenty of room for improvement. Refilled my Rhodia stock for it as well. I have tabs and other tools from the sample pack I bought once upon a time, so I will be spending some time seeing how to better track everything for 2014. Getting off on the right foot!

I've used a couple of Debden diaries for several years now, one A4 for work and an A5 for my own notes/info/to do stuff. I like the layout of these and they're made from sustainable resources which appeals to my inner greenie. They are FP friendly too.

I have a Ecosystem A5 set to go as a bullet journal for 2014. For work, we are required to use outlook as our calendar so I thought the bullet journal may compliment it. We'll see . . .

Tracy, please post some pics when you get a chance of your Circa setup.

Hobonichi Techo just arrived.
I've had mine for a few days now and it's growing on me. First impression: man it's small! I didn't pay any attention to the size when I ordered. But the layout and the fact that it lies flat makes it a nice notebook. I'll use mine as is, no cover. Very fp friendly with fine Lamy nibs from either an Al-Star or 2000 using NB or AG.

It is small but not as small as my old Moleskine agenda/planner thing. I like the size. Smaller than A6 but thick enough to carry nicely. Fits in my bag with no issues. I think I have a leather cover I can use with it but I cannot find it right now. Need to keep looking. Worse case, I'll use it as is and put one of those adhesive pen loops from Leuchtturm on the back cover.

Sure, my box finally arrived and I think what I chose will work pretty we for me. Levenger has so many options for planning tools that I sometimes think you can plan yourself right into a corner. I am a really organized person but having some simple help is ideal.

So, here it is with the new bomber jacket cover. I had the rings already and the combo seems to work.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/01/ra2apuza.jpg

I bought the monthly tabs so here you can see the front side of the tab, then the month is on the other side.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/01/yjuhu2u7.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/01/7ydarunu.jpg

The tab set comes with a foldout two year planner. 14 on one side, 15 on the other. Here it is folded and unfolded.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/01/yruvevyp.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/01/zesapeby.jpg

I also restocked my Rhodia paper, and bought a ruler/bookmark thingy.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/01/utete3ep.jpg

I have a few other tabs for things, some flags, and I have other stuff at work I can add if needed. I like it because I have a punch and can incorporate email or other documents right into the notebook where it belongs. At the end of each year I scan my notes to PDF for future reference. Simple, but sure works for me.

Nice

I still teeter between the Franklin Covey and electronic means to organize and plan... Organization has always been a subject I've had to work on.

I'm happy with my regular size Traveler's Notebook so I will be using it next year, too.

Hobonichi techo is Japanese paperback size. If you live near a Japanese bookstore, they probably have book covers for paperbacks that can be used for Hobonichi.

I'm using a combination of Circa/Arc. The Arc paper is fp friendly and half the price of Circa, but I have notebooks of each system and they are compatible with each other.

Currently using a Martha Stewart discbound planner in black, sized 6.5x9, with the Martha Stewart inserts for 2014. I picked it up on a trip to Arizona as they aren't available at Canadian Staples stores, as far as I know. Have been using it since the beginning of December and have no issues. Yet. ;)

If you want to see it here (http://inlovewithjournals.wordpress.com/2013/12/01/my-planner-for-2014/)is a blog post about it.
