This is one of the four Hero fountain pen inks I recently wrote about (http://penpaperinkletter.com/hero-fountain-pen-inks/). I have found that the red leans a bit pink compared to bright reds like Sheaffer’s Skrip Red but it still seems like a serviceable red with some decent shading.

It is a decently wet ink that shows no signs of feathering on this TWSBI paper. It was the fastest drying ink of the four Hero inks at right around 30 seconds to completely dry.

The Hero red fountain pen ink shades well for a red and it did ok in the water drop test though not bulletproof. I can see using this in the extremes of an extra fine ink where it looks a bit darker or in a flex nib where it can really show its range even though it leans pinker than I like.

This is my least favorite of the Hero inks in terms of first impression but with more use I think it might grow on me. Not bad for a $5 60ml bottle of ink.
