View Full Version : Is this a real S.T. Dupont?

Hey everyone,

A friend sent me this pen with the question of whether or not it's a genuine S. T. Dupont. I think it's a discontinued model, but I know very little about the brand. If anyone can ID the pen, I'd be much obliged! (apologies for the large pics: I just wanted to show as much detail as possible).

Thanks much!

Possibly, but I have some pretty strong reservations.

The nib shape is not one that I have seen used on any of those pens, the "D" on the nib is a design used on later models and the band engraving is totally unlike the sharp and deep styles found on any of my ST Dupont pens. It is also a style very, very, very commonly faked.

I second Jar's view on the nib. The pen and the nib don't seem to come from the same era and the shape of the nib is unusual.
I couldn't tell for sure from the photo - is the nib gold tone, silver tone or two tone?
Is there any other engraving or hallmark on the cap band?

It looks like a Classique or a poor imitation of it. IIRC, got a hooded nib.

The nib looks to be a modern S.T. Dupont. The pen style is an older S.T. Dupont Classique, which should have a different nib. Further, I don't like the engraving. It's not deep enough. The plating doesn't seem even, although its very hard to judge based on the photos.

Another test would be to look on the side of the clip for a serial number. In summary, I'd go with the consensus that it's not kosher.
