Hi all,
Thought I should evaluate another aesthetically design approach...
Lots of complementary work, but well worth it in my opinion.
Searching in the shell parts for the best fitting shell particle takes a lot of time, and gluing the particles perfectly in place is even more a monks task.
Took me 9 hours to finish the complementary work, and ........a sleepless night due to a blocked neck spine
Luckily my friend is a chiropractor and helped me out of the pain and misery the next day
The glued shell particles in the grooves are covered with cyanoacrylate glue in several consecutive layers, harden overnight , and then turned flush on the lathe and polished
The ring grooves become progressively smaller towards the section, pitch between the rings are all identical.
Giving the black cap a link to the barrel inlays, I decided making also an inlaid groove in the cap top
Note the nib unit - nib,HR feed and housing- screws in the section
Your comments , critiques and suggestions are most welcome as usual!
Merry Christmas !!
Francis

I think Monk's task is a pretty accurate description! I really like the way that the rings get thinner. And it would look unbalanced without the added cap ring.
The number of other things that could be inserted in a similar fashion opens up many possibilities. If you have an army of skilled monks available to do the work, of course.
The first thing that jumped into my head was wire wraps within the grooves, which might be easier but I do not think would be as impressive as the shells.
I am also a very big fan of a screw-out nib unit!

Merry Christmas Francis and thanks for sharing!

Merry Christmas Francis. This is very very nice. I could imagine it with a "Raden" inlay. :) Vera

Nice. This is really really nice. I've always liked the rings aesthetics, especially of different size and distance. Just as with other similar pens like the Pelikan M215 to MB George Bernard Shaw to Omas Marconi.. except, obviously more bespoke and bigger ink capacity :) Oh and I love nice ink window too.

Francis. You've done it again. Merry Christmas!

I can't tell for sure but is that a brass ring or an ink window on the section?

Hi KrazyIvan, it's effectively a yellow ink window in the section.
