Hello,

I was looking at the Pelikan M800 on a few sites and I noticed most of the standard colors have a gold color Peikan logo on the very top of the cap (Classic Fountain Pens has good pictures of this). CFP's M800 page also shows the M805 with a black log on top - and pictures of older M800s also have the black logo.

Does anyone know what year they changed from the black to the gold?

To put it simply, 2010. That's when the Souveran's switched to the gold cap.

I am struggling to find where I read this, but I recall an article saying the cap end changed from black to gold in 2010. But please, take that with a very large grain of salt. Hopefully someone with more information will happen by and straighten me out.

EDIT: Hmmm, seems I'm late to the party ;-)

For further reading, here is an article (http://www.thepenguinpen.com/pelikan/pelikan_m800.jsp) from Rick Propas about the M800 that goes through the dates of the different M800 caps.
