Hi All

Just seen this supposed Plum 51 on the Bay of Evil.

Now I know the Plum colour is notoriously difficult to photograph but surly that is a Burgundy?

What do you all reckon Plum or Burgundy?

I'm assuming that Paul-H is speaking of this "plum" (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Parker-51-Jewel-Top-Fountain-Pen-Rare-Plum-Color-Original-Box-/281232154932?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item417abe2134), which is not plum but burgundy.

Looks like a burgundy. Furthermore, seller says the pen is from 1967. Parker only made the Plum for a few years early in the run of aerometrics. Without checking Tony Fischier's parkercollector.com, I think Plums were made between about 1948 and 1950...

The plums were made in 1948 and 1949 only. The "51" stamping means manufacture in 1951. The pen is so obviously red that the seller has passed beyond the level of wishful thinking all the way to pompous erroneous orthodoxy, his own edicts being taken as gospel. The statement that the pen was made in 1967 and is plum shows ignorance of the issue and a lack of due dilligence.

Yeah, defo Burgundy. I've been after a plum one for a while too, and noticed this one but didn't even think of bidding. Cheers
