Hi guys.

I thought I'd start my own photo thread here, since I like to share my photos.

Here's today's thrift shop bargain - an old writing desk that I got for 400 DKK, that's 45 GBP or 73 USD.
The paint is old-fashioned danish folklore style, but I don't know just exactly how old the little writing desk is.
But I'm very happy about it, since I have been hunting for an affordable one for ages.
I have looked at the travel style writing desk-things, but they do tend to take up a lot of space whether you put one on your desk or store it somewhere in your apartment for whenever you need it.
But this little desk fits perfectly in my tiny hallway, so I'm happy. :)

I apologise for the photo quality, it's a cell phone photo.

Bogon07: Thanks, we've got some good shops around here. ;)

Kia: Thanks. :)

Malcolm: Thanks. :)

Sumgaikid: Thanks, thrift shops are pretty cool. ;)

Orfew: Thanks, I spotted it, checked the price, checked my wallet and went straight for the shop assistant. :D

Chinial: It's in fairly fine condition. One of the corners has got a deep scratch, otherwise it looks nice.

Today's flea market bargains - again apologies for the photo quality, cell phone photos again.

Sheet music stand with intarsia, needing repair, but I got it cheaply.

Pelikan table sign. The price tag said 150 DKK, I got it for 30, because I asked just before the owner closed shop for the day. ;)

Old glass inkwell.
I have cleaned it now, a good trick with glass is hot water and baking soda.
But if the glass is thick, start with lukewarm water and change the water to more and more hot water gradually, so that the glass won't crack because of the change in temperature when you pour in the water.
Finally add really hot/boiling water together with some baking soda, let soak for half an hour, and the old ink residue should wash right off when you rinse the glass.
I use the same technique with my crystal vases, because you can't use acidic fluids to remove the calcium lines from the flower water, but baking soda, hot water and a few hours will do the trick nicely. ;)
