As many here might know I kinda like the earlier 146s from Montblanc and have a few. One of my favorites though is slightly unusual.

At first glance it seems pretty normal ...

but when opened a luscious OBB nib is found.

But that's not the most interesting feature. It's likely that this pen is a very early example of the celluloid 146s based on the feed. Instead of a finned or tracked ski-slope feed, this has the flat ski-slope feed.

Performance is pretty good and the feed does keep up with that wide nib, I have no idea when a transition to the newer ski-slope feeds happened but I imagine they used up stock on hand and did not make a sudden transition.

I never knew the early 146 could have the flat feed. Thanks for the pictures of what is a very nice pen.

What year did the feeds change from the flat to the finned?
