Hello Folks,
I have a pelikan M200 and about 5 years ago I put a M400 nib on it. I use it quite a bit as my EDC pen sometimes. The 14ct nib has no problem and it is buttery smooth. Today I was sitting at my desk and I decided to look at the nib under the loupe. And I realize my nib is slightly misaligned. But still it is so smooth, so I have no idea what is going on here. Is it just uneven wear due to the way I hold pens? Should I be worry?

It may be uneven wear, but that's also a misleading angle to look at it to check tipping alignment. If it looks OK when held at the writing angle, that's all you need to be worried about--

Also, even if it IS uneven wear, its that old semi-mythical "making the pen fit only your hand" deal. If it's working for you, also don't worry about it.

I agree with what Ernst said 100%.
I would also add that what the nib looks like means nothing if it writes the way that you want it to.

What Ernst is simplifying is that you need to be able to look at a nib the way that the paper encounters it. That is what I think that the nibmeisters are doing when they ask how you write, look at a writing sample and/or watch you write. They understand how that translates to how the nib contacts the paper, and then they understand how to tweak the nib so that it performs best like that.

I have one nib that looks absolutely horrible under magnification. And I will never touch it becasue I love it just the way that it is.
